11-Tell Me Something Good

Deonte sat in the chair on the other side of the room watching Kaiah sleep. He had finally talked her into moving in with him, with a little help from Synai. They had been together for nine months now and he really considered her his soul mate. He went out and bought her an engagement ring last week, but didn’t know how he wanted to propose to her. All this was new to him, including the feelings he had for her. She was truly something special to him. His mind went back to a conversation they had last night.

They were cuddled up in the bed watching a movie when out of nowhere Kaiah popped her head up and asked him a question.

“Baby, do you ever think about where you would be if you weren’t in the game?” she asked.

“Yea, dead,” he answered truthfully.

She hit him on his chest. “No. I mean, do you have any dreams?” she asked, placing her head back on his chest. “I do, I want to open up my own restaurant and an organization for girls who have been sexually abused.”

“Yea, now that you actually said that, I do. I would love to have a program for little boys to help them stay off the streets. A program that could help them be something in life so they never have to resort to selling drugs, because these streets don’t love nobody.”

No female had ever sat there and asked him anything like that. They were always concerned about when he was going to give them some money so they could go shopping. Since Kaiah was a hard sleeper, it wasn’t hard for him to secretly slip the ring on her finger so she could see it when she woke up.

“What you thinking about and why are you staring at me?” Kaiah asked, never opening her eyes.

“I was thinking about you.” He smiled.

“Really, that’s…” She stopped when she reached her arms out to stretch and noticed the ring. She stared at it as tears formed in her eyes. Nah, it can’t be. She looked over at Deonte and he had a devilish smirk on his face.

He got up and walked over to the bed, turning her body so her legs were out of the bed. He kneeled between her legs on one knee. “Kaiah, I know we have been together only nine months but you can never put a time limit on love. You make me a very happy man. You make me think about shit that I never have thought about before. My brother and sister love you, so that’s a plus in my eyes. All I want to know is if you feel the same way and if so, will you marry me?” he asked.

“AHHHHHHH!” Kaiah screamed as she jumped in his arms, knocking both of them to the ground. She kissed him all over the face as she cried. She never thought she would see the day where a man would want to marry her.
